Adult Bike Giveaway
The Adult Bike Giveaway provides low-income adults with a bike complete with lights, a lock, and a helmet for successful year-round biking. To receive the bike, each participant completes bicycle safety education training. This groundbreaking program offers participants a flexible solution to meet their transportation needs, reducing barriers to work while promoting healthy activity.
The Florida Freewheelers Freewheelers have committed to paying for all bike repairs for the next four bike giveaway events. Get Active Orlando gets confiscated bikes from the Orlando Police Department, gets them repaired and distributes them to Orange County Health Department clients through an application process. Since the inception of this program, the Florida Freewheelers have been committed to the bike giveaway program by providing repair labor at no cost. They have now agreed to pay for any bike parts needed as well.
